Formula 1000

Formula 1000 is an open wheel class of Formula car racing by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) where a 1000 cc motorcycle engine is used to power a single seat, open wheel race car with full racing aerodynamics and suspension. The F1000 class, also called FB, was created by SCCA in 2006.

STOHR F1000

The Stohr F1000 is powered by a modern Suzuki 1000cc 180+ hp 4 cylinder 12000rpm bike engine. Standard equipment is a Quaife differential, aluminum radiator and large dual oil coolers. 6 speed transmission operated via a Paddle shifter located behind the Momo steering wheel. Installed optional equipment: Carbon Footbox Panel, Stainless Steel Headers and Carbon Fiber side impact protection in the cockpit.

Chassis

Multi-tubular Stohr spaceframe chassis fabricated in chrome-moly steel incorporating a high specification aluminum undertray. The Stohr billet aluminum transaxle case is designed to take suspension loads while unstressing the engine.

Nose structure

The Stohr F1000 features an advanced carbon fiber honeycomb-core crushable nose structure along with integral wing mounts. This meets and exceeds SCCA safety requirements.

Front suspension

Pushrod suspension is used on all 4 wheels, with a 1:1 motion ratio. Triangulated upper and lower wishbones in steel aerofoil section with aluminium front uprights. Pushrod suspension operates through aluminum rockers to the dampers.

Rear suspension

Pushrod suspension is used on all 4 wheels, with a 1:1 motion ratio. Penske shocks are double adjustable. Uprights are machined from billet aluminum with extra sleeves installed for increased wheel bearing rigidity. Large wheel bearings are used to withstand the high downforce.

Steering

High ratio rack & pinion unit allows a collapsible steering column.

Brakes

Wilwood billet aluminum brake calipers. Custom vented brake rotors which are fully floating on light weight billet aluminum hats. Floating rotors provide a firmer pedal and longer rotor life. Master cylinders are Wilwood with cockpit adjustable brake bias control.

Cooling

Aluminium water radiator and dual Setrab aluminium oil coolers are ducted into each side pod.

Dampers

Penske 8300 Series Double adjustable damper w/ remote reservoirs

Fuel system

8.5 Gallon Fuel Cell

Drive train

Standard equipment includes a Quaife differential with lightened CV joints and hollow halfshafts. The Stohr billet aluminum transaxle case is designed to take suspension loads while unstressing the engine.

Wheels / tires

Jongbloed center-lock ultra light racing wheels come mounted with Hoosier slick racing tires. In inclement weather, Hoosier wet weather racing tires are mounted.

Instrumentation

Digital AIM XG-LOG dash with data logging, integrated into the Momo steering wheel.

Bodywork

The Stohr body is pre-pregged fiberglass using advanced polymer matrix composite.

Aerodynamics

The front and rear wings are made of high strength, pre-preg composite. A rear diffuser gives maximum ground effect downforce. The entire body is made from the ultra-strong, ultra-light composite. The rear wing is equipped with an adjustable lower wing element.

Other Safety Equipment

6-point OMP safety harness. 5lb on-board SafeCraft fire protection system. Ballistic 8 Cell Battery is mounted below the drivers seat. Head protection moulding compatible with Hans device.

Dimensions

Car Weight 800lbs Wheel Base 99in.

Front Track 64in. Rear Track 61in.

Engine

Suzuki GSX-R1000 180+ bhp engine with 6-speed sequential change gearbox. Includes C&M wet-sump oiling system, standard specification ECU with shifting enhanced by a Flatshifter. Exhaust system is Stainless Steel 4 into 1 with a Coast Fabrication Stainless Steel silencer/muffler.

RFR F1000

Conceived to incorporate the latest in aerodynamic and mechanical design thinking, the RFR F1000 car was immediately a winner, also setting a new lap record from pole position in its debut race. Now available with the more powerful GSXR K9 Suzuki engine, with an RFR developed dry sump system, the car is set to dominate the class.

Chassis

Multi-tubular stepped spaceframe chassis fabricated in 4130 chrome-moly steel incorporating a high specification bonded and riveted aluminium undertray. The chassis has been designed to comply with the FIA crash test requirements for 2009.

Nose structure

Complies with the Formula Ford SCCA regulations.

Front suspension

Triangulated upper and lower wishbones in rolled steel aerofoil section with aluminium front uprights incorporating 50 mm ID double angular contact bearings. Pushrod suspension operating through aluminium rockers to the dampers. Blade adjustable anti-roll bars. (Upper wishbones and uprights are non-handed.)

Rear suspension Triangulated upper and lower wishbones in rolled steel aerofoil section with aluminium rear uprights incorporating 50 mm ID double angular contact bearings. Pushrod suspension operating through aluminium rockers to the dampers. Blade adjustable anti-roll bars. (Upper wishbones are non-handed.)

Steering

High ratio bespoke T-rack and pinion unit which allows a direct one-piece collapsible steering column designed to comply with the current FIA F3 specification.

Brakes

4-pot AP Racing callipers acting on 265 mm diameter ventilated discs, front and rear. Cockpit adjustable brake balance bar.

Cooling

One aluminium water radiator and one 36 row aluminium oil cooler located and ducted in the side pods.

Dampers

Ohlins 2-way adjustable racing dampers valved in bump and rebound, utilising 36mm ID springs.

Fuel system

33 litre capacity ATL fuel cell incorporating an internal high pressure fuel pump which is wired through the ECU so isolating the pump when the engine is stopped. The fuel cell complies with FT3-1999.

Drive train

Drive from the differential is via 4 tripot joints and 2 bespoke driveshafts.
